6/1/2020 Striped Bass Time!

Current water conditions along the coast are fair for striped bass fishing. Water is clear and there is currently little to no debris in the water impacting lure retrieve. The beach has that fish smell usually associated with summer fishing and good striped bass conditions. Below are the current tides and swell from Pillar Point to the Golden Gate.

3/9/20 Oyster Point Fishing Conditions

Fishing conditions at Oyster Point are ideal today. The tidal coefficient is 110 which is very high meaning that the current will be very strong. This tends to hurt halibut fishing but improves sturgeon fishing. Wind is not expected to pick up until the afternoon.

3/9 Coast Side Fishing Conditions

Fishing conditions are ideal along the coast today. Clean breaks along the shore with a small swell will provide clear structure for perch and striped bass fishing. Full moon may impact feeding patterns but otherwise the conditions are great.

3/3/20 Coast Side Fishing Conditions

Conditions along the coast are slightly better today than yesterday. Little to no morning wind has helped the shore break. The swell is slightly down a little which can make conditions at high tide. If your not set on fishing today I’d stay home.

  • Swell- 6.6- 5.2 wave height about 6ft.
  • High tide 5.0 @ 4:05 am
  • Low tide 0.7 @ 11:54 am
  • High Tide 3.6 @ 7:02 pm
  • Tidal Coefficient is 36 is morning and 37 in afternoon.

3/2/2020 Coastside Fishing Conditions

Current fishing conditions up and down the coast range from fair to poor. Overall the wind is ranging from 10-15 mph and the has increased to 6.9-7.5 ft thus cause some potentially difficult conditions to fish in.

  • Swell- 6.9-7.5 @ 11seconds
  • High 4.9ft @ 3:04 am
  • Low 1.1 @ 10:47 an
  • High 3.4 5:30 pm
  • Low 2.9 @ 9:27 pm
  • Tidal Coefficient is low with 40 in morning and 37 in the afternoon.

Forecast for tomorrow calls for similar conditions although the swell is dropping 1-2 feet which could slightly improve the water.

2/28/2020 Coast Side Fishing Conditions

Another great day to get out and fish. There has been some sea grass and sea weed moving in along the beaches but not in great enough quantity to shut it down. You may have to move around a little bit depending on where you fish but overall the water is clean. Good structure and clean shore breaks today making for good perch fishing!

  • Swell Report- 4-5ft every 12-15 seconds
  • Low tide was at 7:32 am
  • High tide will be at 1:29pm
  • Low tide will be at 7:17pm

All tides are for Pillar Point so adjust your calculation accordingly for the SF Bay.

Perch fisherman may find an occasionally schoolie striped bass.

  • Swell- 3-4ft every 11-12 seconds
  • High tide was at 12:48 am
  • Low tide was at 6:48 am

02/26/20 Coast Side Fishing Conditions

Sneak Peak for 02/26/20 Fishing Conditions.

With the Sun setting you can see tomorrow will present some good fishing opportunities along the entire coastline from Halfmoon Bay to Ocean beach. The water is clean with little to no debris to contend with. There is good structure along the shoreline with holes and sandbars to fish up and down the coast.

  • Swell is 3.6 at 8 seconds
  • Low tide is 6:09 am at 1.8 ft
  • High Tide is 12:02 pm at 4.9ft
  • Low tide is 0.9ft at 6:26 pm
  • Tidal Coefficient is 80 in the morning and 77 in the afternoon.

My recommendation is fish two hours prior to high tide and two hour after. Although if you fish the right hole low tide will expose some nice structure that can hold some perch.

Coast Side Fishing Conditions 2/25/2020

Current fishing Conditions on the coast are fair. Relatively big surf is making it difficult to fish many beach locations from Pedro Point to Ocean Beach. However, great weather has improved the chances of finding sheltered areas to fish for perch.

Currently the water is clean with little debris and grass to deal with.

Recommendations: If you have the itch to fish try to find some sheltered areas where the swell can be minimized. Use 2oz Pyramid weights to keep your offering from sweeping left or right with the current. fish the High tide which will help with a defined shore break of about every 8 seconds.

High tide is at 11:22 am which will be optimal for good conditions to fish.
